A report on crime from the Home Office was released yesterday that produced some alarming figures regarding burglary. The incidence of burglary has apparently risen in the UK in recent months… by a whopping 14%. Even worse, the figures are expected to rise further in the coming year, especially during the holidays and that includes the day of the Royal Wedding because many people are expected to be out. Imagine what this will do for your home insurance premiums!

However, the survey revealed that burglars are also being opportunist whilst people are at home because many people leave doors and windows open when distracted, such as being in the bath. As such, adopting the attitude that your home is not safe can help to prevent problems with your home insurance should you need to claim in the future.
