Do you live in Dorking? If you do then the likelihood is that you were more than a little unhappy when your home insurance renewal premiums dropped on your door mat this year. A report on home insurance premiums recently revealed that the average rise in Dorking last year was from £119 to £174, or 46%. If there was a lot of crime, claims as a result of flooding or weather damage, or even issues with the housing there then this would be understandable. What if there were no such circumstances for the highest rise in the UK though?

The report looked at 3.4 million quotes for buildings and contents insurance and noted that there had been significant rises all over the UK but none as hefty as Dorking despite a low crime rate and no natural disasters. It begs the question as to what insurers are actually charging us for… and reinforces your new mantra – compare, compare, compare!!!
