Honda’s new scooter, the PCX is scheduled for production and sales in November of this year. Thai Honda Manufacturing will be the global production base for the new scooter from Honda, and has set early 2010 as the time line for exports of the PCX. Thai Honda is planning to export the PCX to countries within the ASEAN region and to Japan, North America and Europe as well.

Motorcycle Insurance from The Bike Insurer  Designed with a worldwide market in mind, the PCX is user friendly and fraught with innovative styling. Powered by a newly designed 125cc single- cylinder, water-cooled, low friction, four-stroke engine, the PCX delivers fuel efficiency to the tune of 50km/liter. The 125cc engine is equipped with a stop idling feature, a feature that stops the engine automatically whenever the scooter comes to a temporary stop. This feature is to help provide greater fuel efficiency, except for U.S. models. The PCX is in line with Thailand’s Emission Standards and conforms to emission standards in Europe, North America, and also Japan with Honda’s electronic fuel injection system and a catalyser in the exhaust system. Other features of the PCX include an ACG starting system that is a combination of a cell motor and an alternating current generator that helps with engine size and reduces starting noise; and a combined braking system of the front and rear wheels to give more predictable and dependable braking performance.
