As you may have heard, Esurance is the official car insurance sponsor of the 2010 US Open. In addition to our Rube Goldberg machine, which will be the star of our booth, we’re also giving away free MetroCards so fans can get back and forth easily. As a green company, we’re all for public transportation: fewer cars on the road, fewer emissions, and fewer accidents. And at events like the US Open, it also means fewer fights for the very last spot in a small, crowded parking lot.
We contacted our friend, Kevin Ortiz, at the Metropolitan Transit Authority for some expert insights and info on the benefits of NYC Transit. Here’s what he had to say.
Big events happen in New York all year long, and at MTA we make it easy to catch them all. You can plan your travel itinerary and get to your destination quickly and easily using New York City Transit. And here’s another tip: When you visit MTA’s site, be sure to check out our MetroCard city calendar or our list of events for information about special promotions. These are designed to help you save money while getting to all the hot spots in town.
Speaking of hot spots, did you know you can take the subway to the US Open? The fastest and most convenient way to and from the event is to take the 7 train to the Mets-Willets Point Station, located right next to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
You can also catch the match using the Long Island Rail Road. Extra trains will stop at the Mets-Willets Point Station, which is just a short walk to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
If you’re in New York for this year’s tournament, you may also want to check out all the Big Apple has to offer — and we can help connect you to your destination. The train will take you to Harlem in Manhattan, Broad Channel, and Queens, while the line will take you to Grand Central Station, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Citi Field, and a variety of must-see New York neighborhoods. And if you use an Unlimited Ride MetroCard you can buy a limitless number of subway and bus rides for a fixed price. It’s a quick and easy way to get all around town.
For the current service status of subways and buses and to plan your trip, visit our website or give us a call at 718-330-1234. We’re available to provide directions 7 days a week, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Enjoy your stay and we looking forward to seeing you around town.
